By bringing together increasing numbers of partners, all committed to digital transformation and business support, Réussir avec le Web weaves its own web to serve the online presence of VSEs / SMEs.

Meeting a major strategic challenge

Réussir avec le Web was based on a simple observation made by the Afnic teams: although the means to develop a business on the Internet are increasingly accessible (websites, social networks, newsletters, etc.), 1 million French VSEs / SMEs are still not present online. To meet the problem, in autumn 2017 Afnic launched Réussir avec le Web, a simple, free self-diagnostic service that allows companies to assess their level of maturity on the web and receive a personalized action plan in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks to a high-profile presence at events dedicated to entrepreneurship, Réussir avec le Web has already produced diagnostics for more than 2,000 companies. That success shows that the needs of VSEs / SMEs in the issue are high (understanding digital challenges, concrete tips for effectively taking action, need for support) and that there is no tool that is either as complete or comparable, whether for these companies or the partners in the system.

Unprecedented mapping of the “digital life” of small French businesses

Using the data aggregated by Réussir avec le Web, Afnic’s aim is to draw up a genuine map of the online presence of small French companies. Based on precise criteria (geographical area, size of the company, sector of activity, allocated resources, etc.), it will provide a critical light on the current state of play in their on-line presence, facilitate the diagnostics on a larger scale such as for professional federations, departments or regions, and provide additional leverage for programs in favor of VSEs / SMEs.

There is currently no benchmark tool for measuring the online presence of small and medium-sized French companies. Yet they are crucial to France’s economic fabric, and their command of the digital issues at stake is a decisive factor in their development. The collection and analysis of these data will allow us to fill that vacuum and bring this highly strategic issue to the forefront again”, says Pierre Bonis, Afnic CEO.

Uniting different partners to reach a maximum number of entrepreneurs

To ensure the completeness of its study of the online presence of VSEs / SMEs, since its creation Réussir avec le Web has launched an ambitious policy of strategic partnerships. To date, 17 key players, all references in their field, have joined Réussir avec le Web: trade unions and professional federations, chamber of trade and commerce, start-ups, registrars, communication agencies, website creators, and the media.

By offering their customers and members access to the self-diagnostics and personalized advice provided by Réussir avec le Web, our partners are taking part in raising the awareness of business leaders. Today, many VSEs / SMEs are struggling to make the transition to digital and are not only reluctant to change but share common preconceptions: it’s too complex, too expensive, takes too much time to implement, etc. These brakes demonstrate how much VSEs / SMEs need support and explain why and what we are doing.

“By bringing together specifiers and key players in business support, consulting and services, the community of Réussir avec le Web users continues to grow every day by providing precise analyses of the online presence of SMEs / VSEs. The varied profiles of our partners also allow us to reach decision-makers and project backers at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey, and that is essential for us,adds Pierre Bonis.

About Afnic

Afnic is the acronym for Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération, the French Network Information Centre. The registry has been appointed by the French government to manage domain names under the .fr Top Level Domain. Afnic also manages the .re (Reunion Island), .pm (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon), .tf (French Southern and Antarctic Territories), .wf (Wallis and Futuna) and .yt (Mayotte) French Overseas TLDs.

As part of that mission, Afnic, a non-profit organization, has committed to devoting 11% of its Revenues from managing .fr Top Level Domain to actions of general interest, in particular by transferring €1.3 million each year to the Afnic Foundation for Digital Solidarity.
Afnic is also the back-end registry for the companies as well as local and regional authorities that have chosen to have their own TLD, such as .paris, .bzh, .alsace, .corsica, .mma, .ovh, .leclerc and .sncf.

Established in 1997 and based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Afnic currently has nearly 90 employees.
