The launch of 1,200 new extensions since 2014 has really changed the internet landscape. Although the visibility of long-established players still reigns supreme, certain internet extensions have managed to build their own communities who have adopted their addresses. The more observant will indeed have noticed that new URLs are now being displayed online, in advertisements, on product packaging and on shopfronts.

As we approach the 5th anniversary of the .paris extension, I wanted to take a look at its new-found visibility.

Whether pure Parisians or those simply located in the Parisian region and even internationally, these players have decided to communicate using a web address that indicates their connection to the City of Light.

I’d like to introduce you to some of the Parisian businesses that have adopted the .paris extension in the hope that this insight will persuade you to join this ever-growing community open to all.

Let’s begin our visit on the outskirts of Paris, where you can sniff out a bargain at levillagedespuces.paris, providing all the news you need to allow you to explore this maze of shops selling antiques and rare artefacts to the full. If consumer-to-consumer platforms are more your thing, check out leboncoin.paris, linking directly to local ads.

Let’s continue our journey as we discover the up-and-coming players in the fashion industry. Whether it’s their original creations or their expertise you’re interested in, check out caulaincourt.paris and rudys.paris for high-quality men’s shoes and accessories, or abrazo.paris for some exquisite original flamenco-inspired ladies’ shoes. Fashion lovers will be able to visit the new showroom at fhcm.paris, the official address of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion), as of January 2020.

When lunchtime comes around, the capital of gastronomy certainly has a wide variety of eateries to choose from, starting with the sophisticated cuisine on offer at am-restaurant.paris, incorporating both French and Japanese influences. If it’s something more traditional you’re after, restaurant entrecote.paris and its typical Parisian bistronomic setting is sure to be a hit with beef lovers, whilst the relaxed setting of lesfauves.paris offers plenty to keep fans of fresh fruit and vegetables happy.

There’s no shortage of culture, either; simply visit librairiepicard.paris to discover one of the capital’s oldest and most beautiful bookshops. And why not continue with a visit to the salondulivrerare.paris fair held at the Grand Palais every April. Last but not least, make sure you catch the exhibition celebrating the 130th anniversary of our ambassador, the toureiffel.paris.

Lovers of beer and good wines (in moderation, of course!) are also spoilt for choice, with no fewer than 12 local breweries to choose from, including brasseriedeletre.paris, Brasserie du Grand Paris bgp.paris and craft brewery bapbap.paris. For wine lovers looking for traditional wine-making methods, meanwhile, lesvignerons.paris will be happy to show you round their urban wine warehouse located at the very heart of Paris.

If you feel like extending the experience right through the night, the city certainly has plenty of night-time activities, shows and events on offer. At the height of summer, for example, nothing beats an aperitif with friends on the rooftops of Paris amid the lush green surroundings of lejardinsuspendu.paris, The latest original bar to check out can be found at lavomatic.paris. Those with the energy can keep going into the early hours with a visit to the rive-gauche.paris club in the city’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés district.

Do you have an international presence? Then it might be worth considering that the .paris extension has a global reach and is also aimed at businesses like yours. Danish designer Fahad Alghanim, for example, promotes his attachment to the historical city of fragrance via his misk.paris web address, whilst Norwegian jeans brand Viking emphasises the city where its products are designed through its website address, viking.paris.

Are you captivated by the beauty of Paris and would like to live there? Who knows – you could find your future home waiting for you at realestate.paris.

Dear readers, it has been a pleasure to share with you my top tips for places to visit – a list that will continue to grow as the .paris continues to thrive!
